Swimmers Artur Barseghyan and Varsenik Manucharyan will go to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. It is noted that Barseghyan and Manucharyan scored enough points to get an Olympic license through the waiting list.
Swimmers were determined by rating points. The highest ranking points of the Armenian national team are Arthur Barseghyan – 825 points and Varsenik Manucharyan – 734 points.
Artur Barseghyan and Varsenik Manucharyan also participated in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Then Varsenik took 45th place in the 100 m freestyle, and Barseghyan was 43rd and 38th in the 50 and 100 m freestyle.
Armenian swimmers earned important ranking points at the recent 2024 European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade.
Artur Barseghyan's results:
100 meters butterfly - 39th place (54.56).
50 meters butterfly - 40th place (24.48).
50 meters freestyle - 51st place (22.94).
100 meters freestyle - 42nd place (49.96).
200 meters freestyle - 50th place (1:53.47).
Results Varsenik Manucharyan:
100 meters butterfly - 24th place (1:01.48).
50 meters butterfly - 28th place (27.44).
50 meters freestyle - 37th place (22.94).
So far, this is unofficial, the IOC has not yet published a list of swimmers who will be admitted through the waiting list.
Track and field athlete Yervand Mkrtchyan can also receive such a quota. Waiting list quotas in swimming and athletics are awarded to representatives of countries that do not have a quota in this sport, and if they have enough rating points to participate.
In total, Armenia will have 15 participants at the Olympic Games in Paris.
