Let's take a closer look at the new Armenian Olympian. Gymnast Vahagn Davtyan qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time at the age of 35.
At the recent World Cup 2024 in Doha, Vahagn Davtyan took the first place, which allowed him to reach the first place of the Olympic ranking according to the results of 4 stages of the World Cup series and get a ticket to the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris.
This will be the first Olympic Games in the career of the 35-year-old Armenian gymnast.
Vahagn Davtyan is the older brother of Artur Davtyan, who was a bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games and the 2022 World Champion.
Apart from sports, Vahagn Davtyan also has an official job. He is a civil servant and works in the Yerevan Municipality. In September 2021, Davtyan was appointed head of the Sports Department for Youth Affairs of Yerevan Municipality.
"Of course, it is very difficult to combine work and sports, but when you have desires and goals, you can find a way out, which is what I am trying to do.
There is a lot of work. It's impossible to change everything at once. We have done a lot with my team. The thing is that the problems are financial. We need to build sports complexes and so on," — Davtyan said.
Vahagn Davtyan adheres to the rule that if you repeat the same thing many times and perfect it, you can achieve better results. For many years he has not changed his program, which does not have such a high complexity factor as his main competitors. But every year Vahagn performs all the elements of the program more and more clearly and better, increasing his scores on the account of accuracy. And now Davtyan is on the list of the best gymnasts in the world on the ring apparatus and will take part in the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris together with Artur Davtyan.
