Armenian weightlifter Valerik Movsisyan (89 kg) has become a two-time European weightlifting champion for boys under 17 years old.
To win the tournament in Thessaloniki, the Armenian weightlifter needed just one attempt in the snatch and the clean and jerk. Movsisyan won two small golds and a big gold in the combined total. This is Armenia's second gold at the 2024 European Championships (U17) in Thessaloniki (Greece). Earlier, Narek Ohanyan (61 kg) became a champion.

Valerik Movsisyan had previously won gold at the European U17 Championships in 2023, and in 2022 he was the champion in the U15 category. He also has bronze and silver medals at the World U17 Championships in 2023 and 2024.
