ACA fighter Vartan Asatryan (27-10) expressed his interest in a possible rematch with Azam Gaforov after his victory over Ryskulbek Ibraimov, whom he lost to by judges' decision but received the "Fight of the Year" award for it.
Vartan Asatryan:
"I am very interested in a rematch with Gaforov. In our last fight, it was just one punch that saved him, which I missed. If I hadn't broken my nose, the fight would have gone differently. It was hard for me to fight myself for two rounds, to stop the bleeding, and manage to fight him. Our rematch depends on how the Gaforov-Gadzhiev fight goes. Most likely, I will meet the loser of this pair, and the winner will go to the Grand Prix final. Azam has a chance to win if he can stop Kurban's takedowns. If not, Kurban will be able to 'lie on him.' I think Kurban will win," Asatryan's words are quoted by the ACA press service.
ACA flyweight champion Russian Kurban Gadzhiev will defend his title on August 16 in Moscow in a fight against Tajikistan's Azam Gaforov. The fight will take place at ACA 178. Besides the championship belt, a ticket to the prestigious ACA Grand Prix final will be at stake.
