A little more than two months are left till the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. We propose to recall all the flag bearers of Armenia at the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympic Games, starting from 1992 in Barcelona and ending with the Games in Tokyo.
Armenia's flag bearers at the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympic Games:
1992 - Hrachya Petikyan (shooting)
Armenia then participated in the CIS, there was one common flag bearer Alexander Karelin and 12 individual flag bearers from each country. The Armenian flag was carried by 4-time world champion in shooting Hrachya Petikyan. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Hrachya became the first Olympic champion in 50m rifle shooting. Armenia won a total of 4 medals at the 1992 Olympics - 3 golds and 1 silver, but this is not included in Armenia's overall statistics at the Olympics.
1996 - Aghvan Grigoryan (weightlifting)
At the Atlanta Olympics Aghvan Grigoryan took 8th place in the 99 kg weightlifting, and Armenia won 2 medals (gold and silver).

2000 - Haykaz Galstyan (Greco-Roman wrestling).
At the Games in Sydney Haykaz Galstyan took 13th place in the 130 kg weight, and Armenia had one bronze medal.

2004 - Albert Azaryan
In Athens, the right to carry the Armenian flag was entrusted to the legendary gymnast Albert Azaryan. Armenia did not win any medals at the Games.

2008 - Albert Azaryan
Albert Azaryan was again the flag bearer in Beijing. Armenian athletes won a record 6 medals (2 silver and 4 bronze).

2012 - Arman Yeremyan (Taekwondo).
The European Taekwondo Champion took 5th place at the London Games, and Armenia had 2 medals from wrestlers Arsen Julfalakyan and Artur Aleksanyan (silver and bronze).

2016 - Vahan Mkhitaryan (swimming).
In Rio, Vahan Mkhitaryan placed 46th in the 50 meter swim and Armenia had 4 medals (1 gold and 3 silvers). The champion was Artur Aleksanyan.

2020 - Hovhannes Bachkov (boxing) and Varsenik Manucharyan (swimming).
Varsenik Manucharyan took 45th place in 100 meters, while Bachkov became a bronze medalist. Armenia had a total of 4 medals (2 silver and 2 bronze).

At the moment Armenia has 11 licenses to participate in the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris. But not all qualification tournaments have been held yet. The nearest license tournament is the World Boxing Qualification in Bangkok, from May 24 to June 3.
