The Second and final Olympic boxing licence tournament kicked off in Bangkok on 24 May with 28 men's and 23 men's quotas to be contested.
On the first day of the tournament preliminary fights were held in men's weight categories of 57, 63.5 and 71 kg, as well as in women's weight categories of 54 and 66 kg.
Gurgen Madoyan (71kg) and Artur Bazeyan (57kg) competed from Armenia on the first day, both of them won and went on.

MEN.
57 kg, 1/32 finals:
The main sensation of the day took place at 57kg. Yoel Finol (Venezuela), silver medallist of the 2016 Olympic Games, lost by unanimous decision to 20-year-old Ukrainian Aider Abduraimov, who had not previously achieved serious success in his career.
All boxers who won at the stage of 1/32 finals and passed to the 1/16 finals.
Let's present them in the form of formed pairs in 1/16 finals. Bouts 1/16 finals in weight 57 kg will be held on 28 May.

63.5 kg, 1/64 finals:
Only one fight took place in the 63.5 kg weight class, which is promoted for the main grid. All other fights start from the 1/32 finals stage. Here Mikael Broman (Sweden) and Ume John (Papua New Guinea) fought. The Swede won 4-1 and advanced to the 1/32 finals where he will meet Abdelhak Nadir (Morocco).
71kg, 1/64 finals:
The 71kg has the most boxers represented (70), so there were 6 fights of the 1/64 finals stage here, after which the 1/32 finals fights will take place.
The winners here are: Gurgen Madoyan (Armenia), Eskerkhan Madiev (Georgia), Darmian Durkacz (Poland), Jorge Cuellar (Cuba), Pirrapat Yasungnon (Thailand) and Yassine Eluarz (Morocco).
WOMEN
Among women there was one fight each in 54kg and 57kg, as well as 5 fights in 66kg, all at the stage of 1/32 finals.
In 54kg, Sandra Drabik of Poland won over a Dominican woman. In 57kg, Alyssa Mendoza of the USA defeated Mongolia.
In 66kg the victories went to Navbahor Khamidova (Uzbekistan), Brigitte Mbabi (DR Congo), Yakelin Estornell (Cuba), Camilo Bravo (Colombia) and Grainne Walsh (Ireland).
Yakelin Estornell could become the first representative of the women's side at the Olympics for Cuba. She is 35 years old and previously competed for the Cuban national team in women's wrestling.
