In the semi-final of 60 kg in Greco-Roman wrestling, two favorites of this weight category clashed: Japanese Kenichiro Fumita and Kyrgyz Zholoman Sharshenbekov. In their last meeting in the final of the World Championship, Zholoman won with a confident score of 11:6. And today in the semi-final of the Olympic Games, the Japanese wrestler avenged last year's final by winning 4:3. At the beginning of the 2nd period, the Japanese performed a 4-point throw, which was his only action during the entire fight and gave him passage to the final of the Olympic Games.
In the second semi-final bout, the Chinese Liguo Cao won, beating the representative of the DPRK Se Yung Ri in the final seconds with a score of 3:3 (the last point went to the Chinese).
