The Olympic Wrestling Games continue in Paris on August 9. Today, on the fifth day of the tournament, freestyle wrestlers in the 74 kg and 125 kg weight categories took to the mat for the first time. The evening program featured semi-final bouts, the results of which determined the final pairs.
The first semi-final bout in the 74 kg weight category featured four-time world champion and Olympic bronze medalist from the USA Kyle Dake and world and Asian championship medalist from Japan Daichi Takatani. In a tense fight, the Japanese wrestler won a convincing victory, literally beating Kyle Dake with a "basketball" score and reaching the Olympic final. Takatani took revenge on Dake for his defeat at last year's World Championship, where the American defeated the Japanese in the 1/8 finals with a score of 6:4.
In the parallel fight for the final between Viktor Rassadin from Tajikistan and Razambek Zhamalov from Uzbekistan, the representative of Uzbekistan won. Zhamalov beat his opponent with a score of 8:2 and reached the final.
The final pair in the w/c up to 74 kg:
Daichi Takatani (Japan) - Razambek Zhamalov (Uzbekistan)
