On July 30, the Olympic medal draw in judo in the weight category up to 81 kg among men took place in Paris.
The gold medal was won by the representative of Japan Takanori Nagase, who in the final fight won a convincing victory over the Georgian Tato Grigalashvili with a score of 11:0 and became a two-time Olympic champion.
On the way to the final, Nagase won the following victories: in the 1/16 finals, he defeated the Uruguayan Aleyn Aprakhamyan, in the 1/8 finals - the Turk Vedat Albayrak, and in the 1/4 finals - the Belgian Matthias Casse, in the 1/2 finals - the Italian Antonio Esposito. In the decisive fight, Nagase was stronger than his Georgian opponent, three-time world and European champion Tato Grigalashvili.
