Zavur Uguyev becomes a seven-time Russian freestyle wrestling champion after defeating Bashir Magomedov 0-2 in the final.
Today, May 1, was the second day of the pre-Olympic Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship. Today wrestlers had time to play 2 sets of medals, in weight categories 61kg and 92kg.
Zavur Uguyev before he made his way to the final, yesterday had fights with not the least weak rivals. Remaining the main contender for a place in the Olympic team in the weight up to 57 kg, he decided not to test his organism by burning off extra kilos and for the first time went to the mat in a higher category. He looked as confident as before, and only once there was a situation when the score in the bout was not in his favor. It happened in the quarterfinals with Artyom Gabayev from Alania, whom the Khasavyurtovets had beaten twice before, including in the final of the national championship-2023. However, Zavur quickly corrected the situation and won this fight (6:3), as well as three other fights.
