Մայիսի 31-ին Բանգկոկում տեղի ունեցավ երկրորդ օլիմպիական լիցենզավորման բռնցքամարտի մրցաշարի ութերորդ օրը։ Մրցաշարը մոտենում է իր ավարտին, և արդեն հայտնի են շատ քաշային կարգերում քվոտաների համար վերջին մենամարտերը։ Տղամարդկանց 63,5 կգ և 71 կգ քաշային կարգերում արդեն որոշվել են 4 օլիմպիական քվոտաների տերերը։
Մրցաշարի ութերորդ օրը Հայաստանի հավաքականի կազմից հանդես եկան 4 բռնցքամարտիկներ, բայց նրանցից միայն երկուսն են կարողացել հաղթանակ տանել։
Ռաֆայել Հովհաննիսյանը (80 կգ) հաղթեց իրանցի Մեյսամ Գեշլաղիին Բանգկոկի օլիմպիական որակավորման քառորդ եզրափակիչում։ Մենամարտն ավարտվեց Հովհաննիսյանի 5-0 միաձայն հաղթանակով։ Ռաֆայել Հովհաննիսյանը հնարավորություն ստացավ պայքարել օլիմպիական քվոտայի համար դոմինիկանցի Քրիստիան Պինալեսի դեմ։
